· NOT_DEFINED description: Our research group is preparing an important exhibition to show the cultural diversity of the Mediterranean area through the mainstream daily newspapers, televisions, radios and news-networks.
Nowadays, we have a sample of 60 newspapers to show this information from 32 countries or territories of Mediterranean culture: Albania, Andorra, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, Slovenia, Spain, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Montenegro, Palestine, Portugal, Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (RASD), San Marino, Serbia, Syria, Tunis, Turkey, Cyprus and Vatican City.
Moreover, we will present a representative sample of approximately 10 radio and TV stations of each area, to underline differences in languages, pronunciations and structure of news-making programmes.
Finally we will show all the news-networks locations in each country taken into consideration. News-networks are very important because they represent the first communication source of the area for media from abroad, so and their locations are fundamental to structure the communication network among different areas and different countries.

Our aim is to show these materials using a big Mediterranean map where there will be located every territory and, consequently, a physic sample (two or three newspapers for each territory) of the mainstream press in that area. An interesting point of that approach is that the visitor will be able to read and handle some newspapers which are difficult to find in his or her country. Doing the exhibition in Bellaterra (Catalonia), also means that is important to reflect the idea that not only the official languages of the Mediterranean area have important media: non-official languages, such us Catalan, have its own media system with important publications in it. For this reason, we would like to show this reality using an interactive map where the visitor can find all the Catalan media (press, radio and television) that belongs to every city of Catalonia.

This geographical map methodology will also serve us as a basic tool to show all the other audiovisual media, as well as the location of newsrooms of the mainstream news-networks. These visual maps will be accompanied by headphones and screens broadcasting samples of TVs and radios.
By the end the television map will be completed with samples of TV magazines to underline differences among countries.
